Leaving Italy and Heading for Croatia – Follow the GPS

Posted by on July 23, 2012

It was time to leave Italy and make our way over to Croatia. We would have been there much quicker, but my driver decided to not follow the GPS.

Driving along the road, he wanted to go down the west coast, whilst the GPS was taking us down the middle heading to Pazin. So, we exited left on the freeway to go left. Well, that was the logic until we went under the road and started heading right (north) going through. So we turned off the E70 and headed towards the A3 instead of staying on the E70.

So instead of only cutting through Slovenia, we drove the the body of it. And not doing any previous research on it, nor having any maps and internet, I was a bit worried and lost, especially being in a country not part of the EU. We didn’t even know what currency they used, so hopefully we wouldn’t come to any toll gates.

We didn’t because we followed the signs off the freeway down the long, narrow, windy road doing about 50km an hour. So, I am stressing even more that we are deep in the woods and lost.

But we made it out alive, and finally got to Croatia. Lucky for the phone number that we got in Italy could receive a SMS of the address we had to head too. It was just hard looking it up as we had no maps. But we found it ok.

Now time to enjoy the sites of Pazin.
